Now draft an all-time NBA team. Let the record prove it.

Why eras, not just teams?

A random team name tells you almost nothing — a franchise spans sixty years and four completely different squads. An era tells you which one. The reel lands on a specific window: the city, the years, and the group that actually played together. That is the difference between "Los Angeles" and a team you can argue about.

The full draft is a separate game

The randomizer above stops at the era and stays ready to spin again; it never opens a player list or starts a run. The full game below is separate: draft the real player seasons, then play the schedule out. Play the full game, or see everything this sport has.

Questions people actually ask

How does the NBA team randomizer work?

The opening Current era setting gives each active NBA club one entry, using the newest real city-and-years window behind that club. Choose All eras when you want moved and folded franchises and every older roster period. Both settings return the complete receipt and remain endlessly respinnable; this control never begins the five-player game below.

Are the teams and years real?

Every era is a window a franchise genuinely had, identified by its city and years. There are no invented teams: the player pool comes from the public record for that specific period.

Can I spin more than once?

As many times as you want. This is a repeatable tool rather than a daily puzzle, so a spin you do not like costs you nothing but another tap.

What happens after it lands?

Nothing automatic: the result stays on screen and the reel becomes Spin again. No roster opens and nothing is used up. The separate game below is where player cards, five draft seats and the 82-game season begin.

Is it free?

Yes, and there is nothing to install or sign up for. It runs in a browser tab on a phone or a laptop.

Does it randomize the decade as well as the team?

Both, and in basketball the pairing matters more than in any other sport here. Five seats means one era is close to one team, so Boston in the sixties and Boston in the eighties are not variations on a theme — they are different games. The reel lands on the window, not the badge. What it never picks for you is which player from that squad you keep.

Can I limit it to one conference, or stop it repeating a team?

Neither, on purpose. Every era carries the same odds on every tap, nothing is filtered by conference, and the same franchise can land twice running — a wheel that quietly removes options has stopped being random. The eras already do what a filter would: one city covers several very different five-man cores, so a repeat badge rarely means a repeat board.

Is this a NBA team wheel, a spinner or a generator?

Yes to all of them — wheel, spinner, picker, generator. If you came from a general-purpose wheel looking for a basketball-specific one, this is that, with the clubs already loaded and an all-time board waiting behind the spin.

Do the NBA teams show logos?

No logos. Clubs appear as a city and a span of years, which matters more here than it sounds: several franchises have moved or folded, and a crest would hide exactly the history the board is built on.

Which NBA teams can the randomizer land on?

The opening board has 30 active NBA clubs, each represented by its newest real period. All eras opens 60 franchise lines, including teams that moved or folded, so two Los Angeles generations can become completely different results.

How far back does the NBA side of this site go?

To 1947, the league's first season. All eras opens that complete history beyond today's clubs, and every landing remains free to replace with another spin.

Where do the NBA numbers and honours come from?

Public records — the season's real scoring, rebounding and playmaking lines, with All-NBA selections beside them. Nothing here is a rating we invented.

What happens after the NBA randomizer lands?

The city-and-years receipt stays put and the reel becomes Spin again. No five is started and no result is consumed; player cards belong to the separate game below.

What makes a random NBA team good or bad on the board?

The era, almost entirely. Basketball's strongest clubs concentrated their greatness into short windows, which means the gap between two spins on the same badge is often wider than the gap between two badges.

Does a random NBA team come with any all-time greats?

463 are recorded, but the repeatable top reel stops at team-era context. The separate five-seat game below is where the player pool opens.
